Bluff Port (port code: NZBLU) is a medium-sized commercial and customs port. Located 27 kilometers from Invercargill, the capital city of Southland, it is New Zealand's southernmost port.
The port benefits from being a natural harbour with surge free conditions and is well protected from prevailing winds. It is also serves as the terminus for the Foveaux Strait ferry service and base for local fishing fleet.
The port has facilities for handling break bulk, liquid, and dry bulk. It handles more than 2.1 million tons of cargo and 4,000TEU annually. The main exports leaving this port include aluminium, meat, fertilizers, fish, wool, grain, wood chips, logs and lumber. The principal imports entering this port are bulk materials for the aluminium smelter, petroleum products, and raw fertilizer.
