Bonthe Port (port code: SLBTE) is the chief seaport of Sherbro Island. Located on the eastern end of the island, on the Sherbro River estuary, in southwest Sierra Leone, it is small. The silting up of the estuary, coastal swamps, and new internal routes have reduced its importance as a port.
The port mainly exports palm kernel, palm fiber, and coffee. The type of vessels regularly calling at this port is landing craft, accounting for 100%. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 41 meters.
