The Port of Cartagena (Spanish: Puerto de Cartagena) is the second largest city in Murcia. In recent years, this port has provided customized services based on customer needs and improved its commercial flexibility and competitiveness, its annual transportation volume has achieved amazing growth. In 2007, the throughput exceeded 24.5 million tons, making this port an industry reference point in Spain. In addition to cargo logistics through outside steady growth, the number of ports of call cruise ships increased rapidly. Part of the reason is the port’s strategic location in the western Mediterranean, and its excellent infrastructure. These port infrastructure improvements have attracted many large companies to this area, many of which have already obtained important licensing contracts. All these investments will undoubtedly help strengthen the port of Valle de Escombreras, making it not only a port business but also the overall growth engine of the Murcia region.
