Chiba Port (port code: JPCHB) is Japan's largest port by volume and value of the freight that passes through the port. It is situated in the north-eastern part of Tokyo Bay.
The port covers some 24,800 hectares with 398.8 thousand square meters of cargo-handling areas, 15 storage sheds covering 47.2 thousand square meters, open storage areas of 365.5 thousand square meters, and 94 berths.
The port handles about 167 million tons of cargo and 41,780TEU annually. The cargo handled include raw materials, oil, petroleum products, LNG, manufactured goods, foodstuffs and containerised general cargo.
Each year approximately 65,200 vessels visit this port, among which around 54% are tankers, and 39% are cargo vessels. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 300 meters. The maximum draught is 16.4 meters. The maximum deadweight is 211,153t.
