Delfzijl port (port code: NLDZL) is a large port in Netherlands. It is located southeast of Eemshaven near the mouth of the river Ems and the main North Sea shipping routes.
The port consists of a tidal outer and non-tidal inner harbour. The outer harbour is divided into 3 communicating basins, namely Handelshaven, Damsterhaven and Zeehavenkanaal, and is approached by way of a broad fairway, the Zeechavenkanaal. The inner harbour consists of Oosterhornhaven, Farmsumerhaven and Eemskanaal. The link between the outer and inner harbour is formed by the provincial sea locks.
The port is essentially a chemical port but it also handles agricultural products, food, solid fuel, petroleum, ores, metals, raw minerals, fertiliser and chemical products. It handles approximately 4.8 million tons of cargo and 7,000 passengers annually.
Each year about 1,100 vessels visit this port annually. The types of vessels regularly calling at this port are cargo vessels, accounting for around 58%; and tankers, taking up approximate 18.5%. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 203 meters. The maximum draught is 7.5 meters. The maximum deadweight is 38,273t.
