Douglas port (port code: IMDGS) is the principal harbour of the Isle of Man, in the Irish Sea, off the west coast of England. It is situated in the southwest corner of Douglas Bay, at the mouth of Douglas River.
The port provides specialist berths for oil and gas tankers as well as general cargo vessels, fishing vessels and occasional survey, customs and naval vessels. It is the only Manx port with dedicated passenger handling facilities and roll-on roll-off vehicle services. The port’s inner harbour marina is the main area for visiting leisure craft to berth. The outer harbor comprises of 1 petroleum, 4 passenger car ferry (Victoria Pier), 2 general cargo berths and a linkspan berth on King Edward Pier.
The port handles approximately 77,000t of oil, 23,500t of gas, 19,000t dry cargo, and 40,000 cars annually. Each year about 700,000 passengers and 15,000 commercial vehicles visit this port. Fishing vessels account for about 44% of the vessels regularly visiting this port. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 123 meters. The maximum draught is 5.9 meters. The maximum deadweight is 5,890t.
