Durres port (port cod: ALDRZ) is the principal port of Albania. It is situated approximately 120 nautical miles east of Bari, Italy, across the Adriatic Sea, at the north end of the Bay of Durres, an extensive body of water diving Kala e Turres and Cape Durres.
The port is formed by two breakwaters which protect ten berths. New berths are under construction. Access to the port is via a 120-meter-wide buoyed channel with a depth of approximately 9.5 meters. There are regular passenger/cargo ferry services to Bari, Ancona and Trieste.
The port handles approximately 603,000t of cargo and 770,800 passengers annually. Cargo handled includes general, bulk, breakbulk, palletised goods and containers. The types of vessels regularly calling at the port are cargo vessels, accounting for about 64.5%, and fishing vessels, taking up around 27%. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 254 meters. The maximum draught is 8 meters. The maximum deadweight is 63,413t.
