The Port of Goderich (Port Code: CAGOD/CAGOH) is a port located at the mouth of the Maitland River on the eastern shore of Lake Huron, 90km Northwest of Sarnia. The Port of Goderich is the only deep-water port on the east shore of Lake Huron. Servicing regional mining, manufacturing and agricultural industries, the Port is an important hub of commercial shipping in southwestern Ontario. The port has 5 wharves and has been a grain distribution centre for over 100 years, but now also has extensive salt loading facilities to support the local mine. The harbour is used as a safe lay up facility for lakers during the closed season. The navigation season is from mid Apr to late Dec. Approx 200 vessels and 5,000,000t of cargo are handled annually.
