Gretna Port (port code: USGTL) is a sub port of New Orleans Port. It lies on the Mississippi River's west bank with the Big Easy to the north and east, almost two river miles downriver from New Orleans' port.
The port’s Docks No. 1 and 2, having berthing space of 73.2 meters (240 feet) with alongside depth of 3 meters (10 feet) MLG, are used to receive petroleum products, to supply packaged and bulk-lubricating oil, and to load bunkering barges. Dock No. 3, having berthing space of 119 meters (390 feet) with alongside depth of 6.1 meters (20 feet) MLG, receives petroleum products, supplies lubricating oil, loads barges, and moors company-owned gloating equipment. Dock No. 4, having berthing space of 53.3 meters (175 feet) with alongside depth of 13.7 meters (45 feet) MLG, is to receive petroleum products and moor company-owned floating equipment. Dock No. 5 has berthing space of 180 meters (590 feet) with alongside depth of 8.5 meters (28 feet) MLG and receives molasses.
The types of vessels regularly visiting this port are dredging vessels, accounting for about 59%; and passenger vessels, taking up around 22%.
