Guayanilla port (port code: PRGUA) is the largest hurricane harbour and one of the best in Puerto Rico. It is situated on the south coast of the island, 7.5 nautical miles west of Ponce.
The harbour is protected at its entrance by extensive reefs which extend 1 nautical mile or more offshore. The entrance channel between these reefs is approximately 1.5 nautical miles in length and approximate 0.4 nautical miles wide.
The port has facilities for deep draught tankers at the Tallaboa sector of the port. It is available for vessels of any draught. It handles approximately 17,000,000t of cargo and 570 vessels annually. The type of vessels regularly calling at it is cargo vessels, accounting for about 55%. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 297 meters. The maximum draught is 12.2 meters. The maximum deadweight is 94,442t.
