Haifa port (port code: ILHFA) is a large port in Israel. It is located in the south of Haifa Bay.
The port is protected by two breakwaters; the Main Breakwater is 2.8 kilometers in length to the northwest and the Lee Breakwater is 760 meters in length to the east. The Lee Breakwater is now part of the Carmel Eastern Container Terminal, under construction. Within the port is a basin of 1,066,000 square meters, consisting of the main port and Kishon Harbour, to the east. The land area of the port extends to over 4,500,000 square meters.
The port handles most cargoes and offers a wide range of services. It handles about 19,800,000t of cargo, including 1,140,000TEU annually. The principal exports include citrus fruits, chemicals, tyres, textiles and machinery. And the chief imports are grain, raw materials, oil and petroleum products.
Each year approximately 212,000 passengers and 2,415 vessels visit this port. The types of vessels regularly calling at this port are cargo vessels, accounting for about 66.5%, sailing vessels, taking up around 12%; and tankers, taking a proportion of approximate 9%. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 366 meters. The maximum draught is 15.1 meters. The maximum deadweight is 178403t.
