Hamina port (port code: FIHMN) is one of the largest export ports in Finland. It situated in the Gulf of Finland, approximately 75 nautical miles from Helsinki and 36 kilometers from the Russian border.
The port provides over 2.8 kilometers of multipurpose quays, with excellent rail links to the hinterland and CIS/Far East, and has facilities for handling general cargo, dry bulk, containerised cargo and liquid bulk including oil products, LPG and chemicals.
The port handles approximately 4,500,000t of cargo and 200,000TEU annually. The principal exports from this port are forest products, paper, board, pulp, plywood and sawn timber. And the main imports to this port include coal, chemicals, minerals and oil products.
Each year about 1,000 vessels visit this port, among which around 49% are general cargo vessels and approximately 33% are oil/chemical tankers. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 240 meters. The maximum draught is 9.1 meters. The maximum deadweight is 56,348t.
