Hochiminh Cat Lai Port (VNCLP) is located on the west bank of the lower SAIGON river in southern Vietnam, about 46n miles from the river's mouth. HOCHIMINH, formerly known as SAIGON until 1975, is Vietnam's largest port. It is Vietnam's largest city and transportation hub and the rice distribution center of the MEKONG River delta. HOCHIMINH is also the industrial center of Vietnam, 528 nautical miles north to Da Nang, 810 nautical miles to Haiphong port and 920 nautical miles to Hong Kong. The primary industries are machinery, shipbuilding, rice milling, cement, sugar, brewing, textile, cigarette, chemistry, brick, saw wood, rubber, and ceramics. There are 30 days of fog and 56 days of thunder every year. The average yearly rainfall in HOCHIMINH is about 800mm. It is a daily tidal port with an average tidal range of 2.6m.
