The port of Ijmuiden (Port Code: NLIJM) is a dynamic port located at the entrance to the North Sea Canal area. It has a reputation for the storage and transhipment of fresh and deep-frozen fish, offshore activities, ferry and cruise shipping, and the assembly and construction of offshore assets. It mainly handles ore, coal, frozen products, offshore material, wood products, steel products, potatoes, seafood products and passenger/cruise vessels. It is a tidal harbour and have access to the ports of the North Sea Canal, Velsen, Beverwijk, Zaandam ( also known as Zanstad) and Amsterdam through the Noordzeesluizen. The port has become a major North Sea supply centre for the offshore oil, gas and wind farm fields, providing services for companies including MHI Vestas, Eneco, Vattenfalf/NUON, Windcat workboats and C-Ventus. The Port Operators have invested in newly created land and quays next to open water, dedicated boatlandings with safe and easy access and a jetty to accommodate transfer vessels all available for offshore projects.
