Lorient (Port Code:FRLRT) is a town and seaport in the Morbihan department of Brittany in North-Western France. Lorient is commonly referred to as La ville aux cinq ports ("the city of five ports"): military, fishing, commercial, passengers and yachting. The port has 950m of quayage which is used primarily for the handling of general, bulk and oil cargoes. Approx 500 vessels, 2,900,000t of cargo and 612,200 passengers are handled annually. The major throughput is the import of animal feeds and hydrocarbons.
The Port of Lorient’s quay serving agricultural bulk products is 568 meters long with alongside depth of 12 meters, depending on the tides. It contains two Panamax stations that can process to 20 thousand tons per day. The quay contains private storage for 160 thousand tons of cargo, a rail transit station, and silo capacity for 10 thousand tons. The quay also has capacity to store 21 thousand tons of molasses. The Port of Lorient offers cold storage for 100 thousand cubic meters of frozen cargo and 5.5 thousand square meters of storage for chilled cargoes.
