The port consists of two working docks, No 1 and No 2. The docks are protected to the east by an outer pier and entered from the south via a short channel 15m wide into No 2 Dock through gates which are normally operated from 2 hours before HW until HW. No 1 Dock is entered from the north end of No 2 Dock through a channel 15m wide. A disused dock, No 3, and its entry channel lie to the east of the working docks. Cargo handled: Forest products, fertiliser, salt, aggregates, timber and other general cargo.
