Mina Saqr Port (Port Code:AEMSA) is the major bulk-handling port in the Middle East. Of the almost 60 million tonnes of cargo handled by RAK Ports annually, the majority is handled by Saqr Port. It’s unique location at the foot of the Hajar Mountains feeds into the burgeoning quarrying industry within Ras Al Khaimah, which produces sufficient quantities of aggregate, cement and other building materials to serve the majority of the construction projects within the GCC. This makes Saqr Port a vital part of the industrial supply chain throughout all of the Arabian Peninsula and beyond, providing materials for projects on a massive scale such as Expo 2020 in Dubai.
The port offers specialised berths for the handling of bulk cement and aggregates, a container terminal and 2 Ro-Ro berths. There is also a small boat harbour and fishing harbour with a depth of 4.5m. Loaded vessels up to 60,000 dwt, with a maximum length of 200m and a maximum draft of 11.5m, can be accommodated. Eight deep-water berths, No. 1 through No. 7 and No. 9, have lengths of between 150 to 200m and depths alongside of 12.2m. The inner approaches are dredged to a depth of 12.2m. The main basin is dredged to a depth of 12.2m.
