Miri (Port Code:MYMYY) is a shallow, general cargo port with offshore tanker facilities at Lutong. The port of Miri is situated on the northwest coast of Sarawak. The Miri Port Authority plan a dredging programme to increase the port's potential. Vessels may anchor off the port at Kuala Baram in 9.0m of water where they are worked by lighters from the Miri Lighter Association. The major commodities handled are iron and steel, household goods and electrical appliances, machinery and heavy tractors, foodstuff and cereals, timber/sawn timber, petroleum and petroleum products. Approx 1,600 vessels, 6,200,000t of cargo and 25,000TEU handled annually. Max size: Harbour: LOA 65m, beam 15m, 1,500DWT, draught 2.8m HW. SBM No 5: LOA 335m, BCM 170m, draught 17.1m, 125,000DWT.
