Modjo port (port code: ETMDP) is Ethiopia's most important inland dry port and also Ethiopia's main hub for domestic and international freight services. Established in 2009, it is one of the largest operational inland dry ports in the country. Covering a total area of 150 hectare while 31.7 hectare land area is used for container terminal services, the port is located in Oromia National Regional State Lome woreda at Modjo town, 73 kilometers from the capital and is connected to the new Ethio – Djibouti Rail way line.
As the largest port in the country, Modjo Dry Port handles more than 78% of the nation's imports and has the capacity to accommodate 17,539 TEU containers at a time and its annual container handling capacity has reached up to 136,038 TEU.
