Molfetta (Port Code:ITMOL) is located on the east coast of Italy, 12nm north of Bari. The port has always harbored an active fishing fleet, right up to today. During the Middle Ages Molfetta's port placed it into the trading world amidst great cities like Venice, Alexandria and Constantinople. The port is completely artificial and is bounded by a breakwater and 2 quays, Molo Foraneo facing northwest and Molo Pennello facing north. The port has one quay for bulk and dry cargoes. Principal imports include coal, petroleum products, timber and general cargo. Exports include edible oils, wine, bricks and sulphate of carbon. Approx 130,000t of cargo handled annually. Max size: LOA 160m, beam 15m, draught 7.0m, 10,500GT.
