Monterey port (port code: USYTX) is a medium-sized port located on California's central coast, some 90 nautical miles south of the Port of San Francisco and 300 nautical miles north of the Port of Los Angeles.
Known for its 19th Century community of artists and a rich fishery, modern Monterey Harbor depends primarily on tourism for its income. It hosts the popular annual Monterey Jazz Festival each September. In 2005, over 30 thousand people called Monterey Harbor home.
In addition to travelers and tourists, Monterey Harbor attracts thousands of fishers and boaters each year. The types of vessels regularly calling at the port are sailing vessels (57%), pleasure craft (30%) and passenger vessels (3%). With a maximum draught of 2.2 meters, the maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 50 meters.
