Nanao (Port Code: JPNNO) is situated on the Sea of Japan coast of Honshu, on the eastern side of the Suzu-Misaki, approx 60km northwest of Toyama. Together with Kanazawa, they represent the two major ports in the Ishikawa prefecture. The port is protected by the Funchu breakwater, which is 305m in length and is ideally positioned for trade with countries facing the Sea of Japan. The port is divided into three sections: Area No 1 contains most of the commercial berths. Area No 2 contains the approaches to the port and a LPG berth. Area No 3 is for small fishing vessels. Main commodities handled include coal, timber, oil and liquefied gas. Max size: Hokuden Ohta Pier: LOA 249m, draught 12.8m, 60,000DWT. LPG Berth: LOA 231m, draught 13.09m, 60,000DWT.
