Nassau Cruise Port (Port Code:BSNAS), which is the economic hub of the downtown core, is the cruising gateway to the historic, vibrant city of Nassau. In Nassau are registered most of the cruise vessels (both large and smaller-sized) as the Bahamas is the preferable flag-state for major cruise shipping companies. The port handles a wide range of cargoes and containers and has now become a major port of call for cruise vessels, with seven berths available alongside. Arawak Cay Port is a development to the west of the port for general, bulk and container cargoes. Oil and gas import facilities and power station are at Clifton Pier on the west coast. Approx 402,000t of cargo is handled annually.
