Noro (Port Code:SBNOR) is located on a group of islands known as New Georgia Islands, which lie to the west of the Solomon Islands group. The port handles mainly copra and fish. Noro Port in the Western Province will not be providing clearance for all overseas vessels entering Solomon Islands waters.
There are two boarding grounds in Noro Port. Outer: Latitude 080 4’ South, Longitude 1570 12.1’ East. Inner: Latitude 0804’ South, Longitude 1570 11.8’ East. The preference on which boarding ground to choose is dependent on the Captain. The thinning channel can sometimes be heavy with traffic, so navigating in the direction of the leading lights at an angle of 1900 T is recommended. There is only one berthing wharf for all shipping vessels – international and domestic. There is no designated wharf for a landing craft. It is also a controlled area, so betel nut and alcohol is not permitted. Fines do apply.
