Paspebiac (Port Code:CAPAS) is located on the south shore of the Gulf of St Lawrence in Chaleur Bay, approx 35nm upstream from Gaspe. Paspebiac is connected to the provincial road and rail system. Paspébiac was Quebec's first cod fishing port. The harbour is open all year, occasionally ice breaker assistance is required. The port is used for the handling of oil products, pulpwood, salt and the fishing industry. The commercial wharf and its breakwater provide protection for the fishermen's wharf. Approx 4,000t of cargo is handled annually.
