The port of Pescara (Port Code:ITPES) is an Italian port on the Adriatic Sea at the mouth of the River Pescara in the city of Pescara. Pescara is situated on the Adriatic coast of Italy, approx 75nm south of Ancona. It is a small port for general and bulk cargoes and has a fish harbour. The entrance is protected by a curved detached breakwater, 750m in length, lying almost approx 0.2nm north of the mole heads at the entrance. The inner side of moles are quayed and the main cargo area lies on the south side, close within the river mouth. The north side is reserved for the fishing fleet and further upstream both river banks are quayed and used by fishing boats, yachts and small military craft. East. The port of Pescara was conceived mainly as a staging area for use by numerous local fishing fleets, which had laid the foundations in the river in the second half of the 19th century.
