Peshawar Port (port code: PKPEW/ PKPEK) is a dry port in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Situated in the broad Valley of Peshawar east of the historic Khyber Pass, the ancient travel route by which most trade between Central Asia and the Indian Subcontinent passed, close to the border with Afghanistan, it is clearing agents of imported cars.
The port was established in 1986. The existing area of it is located in densely populated areas spreading over 13.2 acres. Despite massive burden of importing and exporting goods, it still lacks basic facilities of shelter for customers, customs agents and labourers who keep waiting for loading and unloading process of containers in raging heat under open sky.
The port was shifted to pirpia azakhel and permanently closed in 2021. But the business community said that shifting of the port would add to problems of the exporters and importers and suggested that government should expand the port with all facilities available in it to increase job opportunities in the provincial metropolis.
