The port of Petropavlovsk (Port Code:RUPKC) is the largest city in the Kamchatka Peninsula of Russia, which is found on the Avacha Bay and is enclosed by beautiful scenery of snow-capped mountains and two volcanoes. It is situated in the north of Avachinskaya Bay, on the Pacific coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula. The port mainly handles coastal traffic. Cargoes handled are general and bulk cargo, timber, refrigerated cargo, containers, machinery, coal, clinker, grain and iron. Timber, scrap and obsidian are exported from the port. From the end of Nov or mid-Dec until the beginning of May, the harbour is ice-bound, but icebreakers work in the severe months and it is easily kept open. Max size: Max LOA 200m; beam 25m; draught 9.0m.
Upgraded port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky was going to welcome the first cruise ship in summer 2017. According to the press center of the Kamchatka Territory, the passenger terminal facilities are put into operation together with the 100-metre long berth the reconstruction of which is to be completed by 31 May. The depth at the berth is 9 meters, therefore it will be able to accommodate cruise ships of up to 8.5 m in draft.
