The port of Port Cartier (Port Code: CAPCA) is a port situated on the northern shore of the Gulf of St Lawrence, approximately 35km west of Sept-Iles. The port is a private facility which receives iron ore concentrate from the Mont-Wright Mining Complex by rail wagons. The concentrate is either sent to the pellet plant, the stockpiles or the port. The port consists of a five-berth facility, two of which are used for the transhipment of grain from western Canada. Approximately 411 vessels and 16,000,000t of cargo are handled annually.
