Port of Puntarenas (Port Code: CRPAS) is a port located in the Puntarenas canton of Puntarenas Province, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It is lying on a long and narrow peninsula in Gulf of Nicoya. Connected with San José by the Pacific Railway, Puntarenas became an increasingly important port for export of bananas and coffee and for imports from the West Coast of the United States. It is also the country’s principal fishing and cruise port.
Cruise ships to Puntarenas usually dock at port Puerto Caldera - Costa Rica's largest seaport, also ranked the country's most important cargo port. The distance between Puntarenas and Puerto Caldera is 28 km ang there is a regularly scheduled daily service by passenger ferries, linking Puerto Caldera with Puntarenas.
