Rimouski Port (Port Code: CARIM) is a port lying on the south bank of the St Lawrence River, approximately 315 km. northeast of Quebec City, opposite Forestville. The port serves as regional oil and gas distribution hub as well as transshipment centre for soft wood. It also handles fishing vessels. There is a small amount of container traffic. It is also a departure point for general cargo for the Lower North Shore. There is year-round navigation. Occasionally the assistance of icebreakers may be required. Berths 1 to 5 are operated by the Port of Rimouski for Quebec Port Terminals Inc. Many fishing boats use the inner spur wharf to land their catches and load supplies. The port is connected by road.
