Sabetta port (port code: RUSAB) is a small port in northern Russia. It is situated on east coast of Kara Sea.
This port is currently used for supplying stores and fuel to the local community; however it is expected to be the location of the Yamal LNG Project terminal and storage facility in the near future. The new port would have capacity to load gas carriers with up to 15,000,000t of LNG per year, to be produced at a plant nearby in three 5,000,000t stages.
Harsh weather conditions exist in this area with only 4-5 summer months ice free sea passage: in winter approximately 500 nautical miles of up to 2 meters deep sea ice to clear waters. Ice class vessels Arc 7, and ice breakers required for these conditions.
The type of vessels regularly calling at this port is LNG tankers, accounting for 58%. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 299 meters. The maximum draught is 11.6 meters. The maximum deadweight is 97,000t.
