The Port of Salerno (Port Code: ITSAL) is a port serving Salerno, southwestern Italy. The port of Salerno, located in the gulf of the Tyrrhenian Sea, is registered as the second category of seaports. It is one of the major domestic ports and plays an important role in the industrial and commercial system of the center-south. The port has specialized terminals for cars and wheeled units, containers, forest products and steel products. There are 24 berths giving a total quay length of 1,460m, with depth of 11.5m alongside 18 of the berths. Covering a total land area of 400,000m², the port is situated strategically with the most important industrial areas in southern Italy lying within a 150km radius of the port.
In 2009, 18,426,447 tonnes of cargo and 562,782 passengers passed through the port.
