Samarai Port (Port Code: PGSAM/IDSRI) is a port located on the extreme southeastern tip of Papua New Guinea. The port, which has been superseded by Alotau on the mainland for commercial shipping, is visited by cruise vessels and pleasure craft. It is a significant trading port and stop-over between Australia and East Asia. The port comprises one main wharf available to ocean going vessels and one private coastal wharf. Samarai is mainly used for fishing, small cargo trade for the export of copra and importing diesel for the generator.
