Samarinda Port (Port Code: IDSAM/IDSRI) is a river port lying on the east coast of Borneo, in east Kalimantan, on the northern bank of the Mahakam River. Samarinda is the principal trading place of the eastern coast of Kalimantan and is an important administrative centre, primarily handling general and bulk cargoes and tankers. The port mainly handles timber from several large timber mills in various locations on the river, supplying logs and sawn timber for export. Coal, from various upriver regional mines, is regularly exported. There is also an oil jetty. Approximately 17,900 vessels, 51,000,000 tons of cargo are handled annually.
