Samsun Port (Port Code: TRSSX) is a port lying between Kalyon Burnu and Civa Burnu, on northern coast with Black Sea. Samsun is a major gateway port for the central part of the Black Sea coast and the Turkey's largest port in the Black Sea region. It is the only port on the Black Sea with a railway and highway connection. It has a large hinterland. It is the stopping point of cargoes coming from and to Anatolia. The port serves exports, import cargoes and transit traffic to Iran. It is well located both for trade with countries having a coast on the Black Sea and for potential cargoes which will arise due to Black Sea Economic Co-operation Region (BSECR) project. It is also well located for the cargoes destined to the Middle East from continental Europe through Rhine-Main-Danube canal and Black Sea. The port is protected by 2 breakwaters of length 3,132m and 1,580m. The Azot Sanayi Terminal (TUGSAS), which handles liquid ammonia and phosphate cargoes, is situated 6nm southeast of the port of Samsun.
