Santa Marta Port (Port Code: COSMR) is a port lying on the north coast of Colombia, 70 km. northeast of Barranquilla. It is a natural harbor which offers good protection from the prevailing winds. It is an expanding commercial port, with quays in a cove, forming an inner harbour at its northeastern end. There are 7 cargo berths available for handling coal, vegetable oils, containers, bulk liquids, general cargoes and an increasing amount of cruise ships. Puerto Prodeco, a coal terminal, 15km from Santa Marta, serves as a separate port. Approximately 1,000 vessels and 3,325,000t of cargo are handled annually.
