Shreveport Port (port code: USSHV) is a dry port in Caddo parish, in the northwestern corner of Louisiana, the United States. It is situated on the west bank of the Red River, 168 miles away from Port Lake Charles and about 158 miles away from Beaumont harbor in Texas – one of the busiest water transportation facilities in the US.
The port features approximately 2,000 acres of the development site and the main channel with a depth of nine feet. It is suitable for both bulk and breakbulk cargo. There is a dock to handle diversified kinds of cargo, 600 feet in length and 9 feet in depth, and two liquid terminals, one for petroleum and the other for liquid petrochemicals. The port also has 25,000 square feet of warehouse storage.
The port was used to move bales of cotton, tobacco and furs. In 2011, it handled a total volume of cargo processed 694,336 tons, among which the total barge cargo volume was 528,234 tons.
