The Port of Sines (Port Code: PTSNS) is the largest artificial port, situated on the western coast of Portugal, approx 58nm south of Lisbon, at the north of Sines Bay. It is a deep-water port with specialized terminals that allow the movement of different types of goods. The bay offers a safe anchorage which is sheltered from the north by Cape Sines, all terminals are protected by breakwaters. There is also a fishing harbour and a leisure craft marina and a service port. Sines is the main gateway to the energy supply of Portugal: container, natural gas, coal, oil and its derivatives. The port provides services such as control of maritime traffic; pilotage, towage and mooring; access control and surveillance; drinking water and bunkers; repairs on board or ashore.
