Taganrog Port (Port Code: RUTAG) is a seaport situated on the Northern shore of the Gulf of Taganrog, 10 miles to the West from the Delta of Don. It is one of the oldest established seaports in the South of Russia. The port consists of an artificial harbour in the southeast side of the town and the roadstead Bol'shoy Taganrog Reyd. The harbour consists of an outer basin, protected by 3 curved moles, which leads into 2 inner basins, depths 3.0-4.0m. The port is open all year. The main export cargoes handled include lumber, iron, steel and coal. Imports include citrus fruit, flour, alcohol, tobacco products and building materials. Container transhipments are becoming more widespread. Approximately 2,867,400t of cargo are handled annually.
