Talcahuano Port (Port Code: CLTAL) is a port lying on the western shore of Concepcion Bay in the Bio Bio Region, 15 km, northwest of Concepcion and 430 km. southwest of Santiago. It is a small, naturally sheltered port handling fish, containers and reefer cargo. A naval base, including drydocking and repair facilities is located to the north of the commercial port. Merchant vessels may be berthed at certain wharves in Puerto Militar and foreign vessels may use shipyard facilities. The entrance to the port is divided into two channels by Quiriquina Island. The port infrastructure was mostly destroyed in the 2010 earthquake and now takes time to recover.
