Tampa Port (Port Code: USTPA) is the largest and most diversified port in the state of Florida. The port directly accesses Tampa Bay on the western coast of the Florida Suncoast, and is approximately 25 sea miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Operated by Tampa Port Authority, it ranks 16th in the United States by tonnage in domestic trade, 32nd in foreign trade, and 22nd in total trade. It supports varied maritime and related activities, including shipbuilding and repair facilities. Tampa today accommodates a broad mix of bulk, break-bulk, roll-on/roll-off, and container cargo. The port covers an area of approximately 5,000 acres (2,000 ha). There are 66 available berths and 135 staff. It is also one of America's most popular departure ports for western Caribbean cruises. In 2015, it served 867,114 passengers.
