Tianjin Port (port code: CNTSN) is located at the estuary of the Haihe River in Tianjin, China. It is northern China's largest comprehensive port and an important foreign trade port. Tianjin Port is the world's largest artificial deep-water port, with a main channel water depth of 21 meters, which can accommodate crude oil ships and container ships up to 300,000 tons.
The total coastline of Tianjin Port is 32.7 kilometers, the water area is 336 square kilometers, and the land area is 131 square kilometers. Tianjin Port consists of eight areas: Beijiang Port Area, Dongjiang Port Area, Nanjiang Port Area, Dagukou Port Area, Gaoshaling Port Area, Dagang Port Area, Beitang Port Area, and Haihe Port Area. In 2022, Tianjin Port Group fulfilled a cargo throughput of 471 million tons and a container throughput exceeding 21 million TEUs.
Tianjin Port is one of the eastern starting points of the Eurasian Continental Bridge. It is the outlet to the sea for neighboring landlocked countries such as Mongolia and Kazakhstan, and it is also the link connecting Northeast Asia with Central and Western Asia.
On April 6, 2023, Tianjin Port’s first direct route to European countries was officially opened. The new direct route to Europe launched this time starts from Tianjin Port and passes through ASEAN countries and regions, connecting major European ports such as Algeciras in Spain, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Hamburg in Germany, and Antwerp in Belgium. This route is operated by twelve 24,00-TEU class ultra-large container ships on a weekly schedule, building a maritime transportation channel connecting China to many European countries.
