Umea Port (Port Code: SEUME) is a port situated at the head of Umeafjarden, 1nm from the fjord entrance. The port's main berthing areas are situated at the southern end of Osterfjarden close to Holmsund and consist of Umea Hamn, Hillskar Ferry Terminal, Stormskar and Obbola Oil Terminals. Umea is one of the largest ports in northern Scandinavia with an annual freight handling of currently about 2.5 million tonnes. Half of the products that pass the port come from the forest such as kraftliner, wood products and more. It also handles general cargo, dry cargo, oil, containers and daily passenger ferries to Finland. Vessels up to 10.2m draught can be accommodated in Umeafjarden outer harbours where facilities are available for unloading and loading either at anchor or alongside. The port is strategically located on the naturally shortest road between Sweden and Finland across the northern Bothnian Sea and is a year-round port.
