Vancouver Port (port code: USVAN) is a large deep-water port in the Washington State of the United States. It is located on the Washington side of the Columbia River, 105 nautical miles above the entrance and 7 nautical miles north of Portland.
The port contains about 324 hectares of developed marine and industrial property, and there are over 243 hectares of land. It has five terminals and 13 berths handling much of the grain produced in the State of Washington and Oregon. In addition, bauxite, paper products, petroleum products, fertilisers, steel, chemicals, wood products, aluminium, copper concentrate, bentonite clay, metal scrap, woodpulp, project cargo and general cargo are also handled. The port also has the capability to handle containerised and Ro-Ro cargo.
The port is served by two major railroads and over 60 trucking lines. It offers over 6.4 hectares of dockside warehouse for bulk and general cargoes and maintains over 100 hectares of marshaling yards and open storage adjacent to its docks. It handles approximately 5.2 million tons of cargo and 2.2 million TEUs annually.
Each year about 526 vessels visit this port, among which around 37% are dredging vessels, 24.6% are cargo vessels and 24% are sailing vessels. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 295 meters. The maximum draught is 12.4 meters. The maximum deadweight is 87,296t.
