The Port of Yuzhny (Port Code: UAYUZ) is the Ukraine's youngest and deepest port, which is located in Ajalyskiy Liman (estuary) in the northwestern part of the Black Sea, 30 km to the east of Odessa, in Ukraine. It has capacity to handle over 20 million tons of cargo a year. The Port of Yuzhny is a transshipment center for coal, phosphorus, urea, ammonia, super phosphoric acid, methanol, metals, building materials, grain, and crude oil. The Port of Yuzhny has a new modern oil terminal. The major cargoes handled at the Port of Yuzhny include bulk cargoes of chemicals and ore and general cargoes. It also contains specialized terminals that handle mineral fertilizers and liquid chemicals and specialized berths for the export of bulk and general cargoes. An industrial zone is being constructed around the port that will strengthen the regional economy and create new jobs in the area. The port is open all year around. It can accommodate vessels up to 280 meters long and 48 meters wide with a maximum draft of 14.5 meters. Pilotage is required for vessels entering and leaving the Port of Yuzhny, and tugs are required for mooring operations for vessels greater than 50 meters or over 500 GRT. The Port of Yuzhny is reached by a 3-kilometer long, 15.5 kilometer-deep approach channel.
