Zaragoza Port (port code: ESZAZ), known as Saragossa Port in English, is a multimodal inland terminal in Northeast Spain. It is strategically positioned for international trade at the geographical centre of the rough hexagon formed by the Spanish cities of Bilbao, Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona and the French cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse and near the confluence of the Ebro with the Gállego, a more voluminous left-bank tributary born in the Pyrenees, approximately 300 kilometers inland from APM Terminals Barcelona and halfway to Spain’s capital, Madrid.
The port exclusively focuses on the maritime container trade. With the longest siding of 750 meters, it is capable of handling Spain’s longest trains. It has a frequent and direct connection with Spain’s most important route between Barcelona and Madrid - and as a result handled more than 2,400 trains in 2017, and 84,000 rail container movements.
In 2015, 50,000 square meters of purpose-built container handling area, including an additional 60 reefer connections were added to meet high reefer export demand. The port boasts 6,400 square of secure warehousing and offers a complete range of cargo services. In 2017, it increased its handled volume by 20 percent, to around 350,000 TEUs by rail and truck.
