According to the latest data from Alphaliner, as of May 9, the total number of active container vessels in the world was 6,361, with an overall capacity of about 25.6 million TEU. Among them, the combined capacity of the top three shipping companies accounted for 46.6% of the global market.
In the top 100 capacity ranking of global shipping companies, the top 10 shipping companies in order are MSC, Maersk, CMA CGM Group, COSCO Group, Hapag-Lloyd, Evergreen Line, ONE (Ocean Network Express), HMM Co Ltd, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp., and Zim.

Evergreen Line currently operates a total of 201 vessels, of which 122 are owned and 79 are chartered. With the delivery of new vessels this year, Evergreen's overall capacity will continue to rise and is expected to increase by 15% to 20% by the end of the year.
Evergreen Line's new ship's capacity to be delivered this year ranks among the top shipping companies. 2022, the new container ship capacity to be delivered globally is about 950,000 TEU, while Evergreen Line is expected to add to a capacity of 193,400 TEU this year, accounting for 20.4%.

With the new vessels joining, Evergreen will continue to enhance its global competitiveness. It is reported that 80% of Evergreen's vessels are less than ten years old. Most of them meet the emission regulations, which are expected to enhance competitiveness after implementing new carbon emission regulations. Evergreen's fleet has a high proportion of vessels installed with flue-gas desulfurization towers and enjoys the price difference between high and low sulfur fuel oil, which is also quite competitive in the era of high oil prices.
In addition, Evergreen Line's performance in the first quarter of this year reached another record high.
On May 6, Evergreen announced its financial statement for the first quarter of this year, with consolidated revenue reaching NT$170.824 billion (US$5.736 billion) and after-tax earnings reaching NT$101.359 billion (US$3.404 billion), exceeding NT$100 billion for the first time.
