The first two container ships are expected to be chartered out to MSC the next February. And there are two other container ships of the same kind waiting to be delivered in 2023. The already-built two are considered as the largest container ships in the world, each with a record-setting capacity of 24,346 TEUs. For your information, ultra-large container vessels refer to the ones with a total capacity of 10,000+ TEUs. These made-in-China ships were undocked at a shipyard in Taixing, a city located in east China's Jiangsu Province.
According to data from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information, the shipbuilding industry in China has performed excellently during the first three quarters. Up to 50% of container ship construction has been done in China.
